Guagliardo receives weekly SCAC field hockey honors
For the second time this season, senior goal keeper Ann Guagliardo (Louisville, Ky.) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played  Monday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 23.
Guagliardo recorded 14 saves in a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday, Sept. 22. Three of Guagliardo's saves came against breakaway opportunities in the second seven-a-side overtime period.
She also saved three of four penalty strokes in the shootout to secure the win for the Colonels. Guagliardo is now 5-0 on the season with three shutouts and a 0.917 save percentage on the season.
Centre, now 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in SCAC play will next play Transylvania University in a non-conference match, Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Danville, Ky. |
