The Centre College field hockey team completed regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 27 with a 1-0 win at DePauw University. The win secured a #1 ranking for Centre in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region and a #2 seeding in the upcoming SCAC Championships at Sewanee from Nov. 2-4.

Centre finished the regular season with a 12-3 record - the best in school history - which included a 10-0 start. "We're ready to play. We've had two good weeks of training and played a very disciplined match to end the regular season with a well-deserved win. But we know it will take a tremendous effort both Saturday and Sunday to achieve our goals this weekend." said head coach Tom Hobbs.

The SCAC Tournament will kick-off with #4 seed Sewanee hosting #5 seed Hendrix on Friday, Nov. 2 at 1:00pm Eastern. The winner of that match will play the #1 seed Rhodes College at 12:00pm Eastern on Saturday with Centre playing #3 seed DePauw at 2:30pm Eastern. Rhodes College received the #1 seed in a tie-breaker.

Centre defeated DePauw both times they faced in the regular season (3-0 and 1-0), but are not overlooking the Tigers. "DePauw has a very solid program and earned their #3 seeding with wins over Rhodes and Sewanee this season - both of whom beat us earlier in the year. They know how to play the game and tested us at their field last weekend. We're staying focused on that match this week." said Hobbs.
