Having led his team to arguably the best season in school history, Centre College field hockey head coach Tom Hobbs has been named the 2007 Dita/NFHCA Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year.

Hobbs led the Colonels to a school record 13 wins (13-5 overall record) while posting the highest winning percentage in school history and earning Centre's first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

This season, the Colonels output on the field reached new heights. Compared to 2006, the Colonels scored 20 more goals, posted 15 more assists, allowed fewer goals in two more games, and had record numbers named to the All Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (All-SCAC) Team and the NFHCA All-Region Teams, NFHCA All-American Teams,

Hobbs was also named the SCAC Coach of the Year and guided the Colonels to a share of the regular season SCAC Championship (6-2 conference record) and a top ranking in the Great Lakes Region for the first time in school history.
