Field hockey defeats visiting Sewanee 1-0 in overtime
The Centre College field hockey team coming off of Friday night's win over SCAC opponent Rhodes defeated Sewanee 1-0 today, Sunday, Oct. 12, in Danville, Ky. The Colonels are now 10-3 on the year and 3-1 in the SCAC.
Despite out shooting the visiting Sewanee Tigers 18-7 it took an overtime period for the Colonels to get the win. Senior Teresa Johnstone (Louisville, Ky.) scored the game winner in overtime unassisted. Johnstone now has a team leading 13 goals on the season in as many games.
Coach Tom Hobbs after the game said, "Both teams played well today and we had to stay tough, make some adjustments and grind it out. This is a nice win over a very tough Sewanee team."
The Colonels have next week off and return to action on the road Friday, Oct. 24, against SCAC rival Rhodes. The Colonels defeated Rhodes 3-0 earlier in the year. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm.
