Centre field hockey tops DePauw with 1-0 win
The Centre field hockey team had an exciting match against DePauw University on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Danville, Ky, where the Colonels were able to win 1-0.
Centre was on the offense for most of the game and had several opportunities to score. Senior Rachel Watkins (Chicago, Ill.) was able to score for the Colonels right before halftime to put Centre up 1-0.
Early in the second half Centre received a yellow card and went down a player for five minutes. Although DePauw had the advantage they were unable to answer with a goal of their own.
Centre continued to dominate play in the second half with eight shots and the Colonel defense would not allow the Tigers a shot in the half.
The Colonels out shot the Tigers 16 to five in the game. Centre also dominated in penalty corners with 16, while DePauw received five.
The Colonels next match will take place Sunday, Oct. 11 against The University of the South in Danville, Ky. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Farris Stadium.
