Centre field hockey prevails over Sewanee with a 1-0 win
The Centre field hockey team dominated the game against Sewanee University on Sunday, Oct. 11 picking up a 1-0 win in their second game on the turf field. The Colonels have won both games against the Tigers this season.
In the first half Centre had 11 shots versus Sewanee's two, but the Colonels could not capitalize on their opportunities.
Sewanee came out in the second half and put up a good fight against Centre. The Colonels wouldn't be fazed and with 4:25 to go in the game senior Sally Faulkner (Louisville, Ky.) found the back of the cage to give Centre the 1-0 advantage. Centre was able to hold off the Tigers for the remainder of the half to claim another win.
Centre finished with 15 shots on goal and 13 penalty corners. The Colonels move to 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the SCAC. Sophomore Patty Cowley (Louisville, Ky.) recorded her fourth shutout with the win against Sewanee.
The Colonels travel to Delaware, Ohio for their next match to take on Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, Oct. 15. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
