Johnson honored by Don Hansen's Football Gazette
Centre College junior football player Matt Johnson (Ashland, Ky.)
was recently named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA's Division III South Region Second Team Defense. 
Johnson, named to the All-SCAC First Team in 2005 and 2006, finished this year fourth in the conference in total tackles with 86. The linebacker also added two interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Johnson was one of only four players from the SCAC selected to either the first or second team defense. Playing injured for part of the year, Johnson is ranked 88th in the country in total tackles per game with 8.6 per game. He is also ranked 26th nationally in forced fumbles with 0.3 per game.
Centre finished the 2006 season with a 5-5 overall record and 2-4 in conference play,
which put them in a tie for fifth in the final standings. |
