Phelps inducted into National Football Foundation National Honor Society Centre College is proud to have senior student athlete Kevin Phelps selected as a charter member of the National Football Foundation National Honor Society. One must combine academic and athletic excellence to be included among this elite group. Founded 60 years ago with leadership from General Douglas Ma cAuthur, Hall of Fame coach Earl "Red" Blaik and legendary sportswriter Grantland Rice, the National Football Foundation strives to showcase the exceptional young men who play the game and embody football's unique ability to teach leadership, teamwork, discipline and the drive to compete. The National Football Foundation takes great pride in showcasing and recognizing our country's next generation of great leaders.
Kevin was a two year starter at quarterback for the Colonels and also threw javelin for the men's track and field team at Centre. This year he finished first in the 2007 Southern Collegiate Athletic Confer enc (SCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship javelin contest by throwing 54.55 meters.
He is the son of Tim and Brenda Phelps of Leitchfield, Kentucky. The student athlete is a 2003 Graduate of Grayson County High School. Kevin has earned a scholarship and been accepted into Vanderbilt University Medical School for the fall of 2007.
