D3football.com chooses Hay for All-American Team
Centre College junior linebacker Adam Hay (Cincinnati, Ohio) continues to earn recognition for his outstanding performance this season as he was named to the D3football.com 2007 Honorable Mention All-American Team.
The junior defender, who has already been named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) First Team and the D3football.com 2007 All-South Region First Team, is the first All-American selection from Centre since John Ortega in 203.
Hay led the Colonels and the SCAC in total tackles with 138, including 79 solo tackles and 59 assisted. The junior linebacker ranks fifth in the country in total tackles per game (13.8) and fourth in solo tackles per game (7.9). His 138 tackles are also the second highest single-season total in SCAC history. Hay was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week following week one and earned Team of the Week honors from D3football.com and Football Gazette after week three. He recorded 20+ tackles in both games.
Hay was one of only three players from the SCAC to be named to the All-American team. Colorado College's Nolan Swett was named to the first team as a tight end, while Millsaps' Casey Younger was an honorable mention defensive tackle selection.
Centre had 14 players named to the All-SCAC team and two named to the D3football All-South Region team after finishing 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the SCAC. The Colonels ended the 2007 season tied for fourth in the league, marking the first winning season for the Colonels since 2005 and the first winning season in conference play since 2003.
