Hay and Moody named All-South Region by D3football.com
Centre College junior linebacker Adam Hay (Cincinnati, Ohio) and senior safety Tyler Moody (Cincinnati, Ohio) picked up their second postseason award each as the two defenders were named to the D3football.com 2007 All-South Region Team.
Hay, who was named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) First Team earlier, was named to the first team, while Moody, who was also an All-SCAC First Team selection, was named to the third team.
Hay led the Colonels and the SCAC in total tackles with 138, including 79 solo tackles and 59 assisted. The junior linebacker ranks fifth in the country in total tackles per game (13.8) and fourth in solo tackles per game (7.9). His 138 tackles are also the second highest single-season total in SCAC history. Hay was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week following week one and earned Team of the Week honors from D3football.com and Football Gazette after week three. He recorded 20+ tackles in both games.
Moody, who just recently had an interception in Team USA's 37-19 Aztec Bowl win, tallied 78 tackles, including a team-leading three sacks. He also had an interception and a fumble recovery, while ranking fifth in the country in forced fumbles per game (0.4). The four-year starter at safety for the Colonels was chosen as one of the top 50 players in Division III to participate in the Aztec Bowl and the fourth from Centre since 1995. Moody finished his career with 13 interceptions, which ties him for fourth all-time in school history.
Hay and Moody were two of 10 players selected from the SCAC, with Hay being one of only two chosen for the first team.
Centre had 14 players named to the All-SCAC team after finishing 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the SCAC. The Colonels ended the 2007 season tied for fourth in the league, marking the first winning season for the Colonels since 2005 and the first winning season in conference play since 2003.
