Centre College senior football player Chad Riney (Prospect, Ky.) has been selected by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Team for his efforts both in the classroom and on the football field.
Riney, who was named to the District 4 College Division Second Team, is a two-year starter at offensive guard for the Colonels and has posted a 3.45 grade point average as a financial economics and government double major.
The senior has also been a member of the Dean's List during both the Fall 2004 and Spring 2006 terms and has made the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll in each of his first three fall semesters.
In addition, Riney was awarded the Tom Bartlett Memorial Award, which is given to the returning student with the highest grade point average while being a member of the first string football team, at the conclusion of the 2006-07 school year.
Through nine games this season, the senior captain has helped lead the Colonels to a 5-4 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the SCAC. Centre will conclude its 2007 season, Saturday, Nov. 10 against Colorado College at Farris Stadium in Danville, Ky.
