Pinque receives SCAC Character & Community honor
Sophomore running back Jonathan Pinque (Athens, Ala.) has been named the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending Oct. 11.
Pinque volunteers in the Big Brother/Big Sister program in Boyle County. In working with Big Brother/Big Sister, Pinque mentors and meets regularly with a young student. Pinque also volunteered and assisted excessively with the massive clean-up of Danville and Centre following last year's winter storm that devastated the area.
Pinque is an active member of the Phi Delta Phi fraternity and was a winner of The Robert Dale Holmes Memorial Prize, which is awarded to a first-year class member who, by the improvement of his or her work, diligence, and character, reveals most clearly the value of college training and the spirit of the College.
When Pinque was in high school he was awarded the National Carnegie Award for heroism in 2006 after saving two teenagers from drowning in a submerged car.
In his freshman year at Centre, Pinque was a First Team All-SCAC selection member.
Pinque currently leads the SCAC in rushing with a 119.6 yards per game average.
The Colonels next football game will be against Millsaps College on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Jackson, Miss. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m. at Harper Davis Field. |
