Sneed picks up second SCAC weekly honor
For the second time this season, Centre College senior linebacker Brian Sneed (Hendersonville, Tenn.) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, Sept. 19.
The 6-0, 195-pound defender tallied 11 tackles, including six solo and five assisted, while also intercepting a pass and breaking up two more in the Colonels 34-24 upset win over No. 20 DePauw.
Sneed's interception came late in the game after the Tigers had just scored 21 unanswered points to pull within 10 points. DePauw drove to the Centre seven-yard line at the end of the fourth quarter, but on second and goal Sneed intercepted a pass attempt on the three-yard line and the Colonels went on to run out the clock and preserve the win.
Sneed who also posted double-digit tackle totals against Hanover, was also selected as the league's top defender following week one's win over the Panthers.
Centre, 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the SCAC, will return home to host Austin College. The league game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at Farris Stadium in Danville, Ky. |
