The Centre College football team is ranked No. 22 in the D3football.com Top 25 poll. The Colonels are 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the SCAC. Centre hasn't been 6-0 since the 2001 season.

Centre opened the season with a 34-20 win over Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. The Colonels recorded 501 yards in the win, while Hanover picked up 294 yards. In the game sophomore Tyler Osterman (Monroe, Ohio) posted career highs in passing yards with 324 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 104 yards on the ground. Senior receiver Nick Edwards (Flemingsburg, Ky.) had a career high game as well with seven catches for 108 yards.

In the third game of the season Centre knocked off then #20 DePauw 34-24 in Greencastle, Ind. The Colonel defense came up big in this game forcing four turnovers. Senior linebacker Brian Sneed (Hendersonville, Tenn.) led Centre's defense with 11 tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception. Senior cornerback Zack Sloan (Lebanon, Ind.) and junior cornerback Jimmy Warren (Georgetown, Ky.) each had a good game, as both tallied eight tackles. Sloan also had two pass break-ups and Warren broke up a pass and added an interception.

The closest game that the Colonels have had so far this season was their sixth game against Birmingham-Southern in Birmingham, Ala. where the Colonels were able to come away with the 14-13 win. Centre scored on their opening drive to go up 7-0 on the Panthers, but Birmingham-Southern was able to answer as they scored on their pursuing drive. The Colonels would then score on their second drive of the game going up 14-7. In the second half of the game the Panthers would intercept a pass from Centre on their opening drive and run it back for a touchdown. Birmingham-Southern would miss the extra-point attempt and Centre would remain in the lead, 14-13. Both defenses would take over for the rest of the second half and Centre would come away with the 14-13 win.

Centre has a tough schedule left as they still have to play Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. Millsaps was picked in the SCAC preseason coaches' poll to win the conference after winning the conference last year. The Majors are currently 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the SCAC. The Colonels also have to play Trinity University in their last game of the season in San Antonia, TX. Trinity was picked to finish second in the SCAC preseason coaches' poll and currently hold a 4-1 overall record and 1-1 SCAC record.

Centre's next match will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 against conference opponent Millsaps. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
