Football News

Although the Centre football season is over, one player is getting the chance to play in one more football game. Senior wide receiver Nick Edwards (Flemingsburg, Ky.) has been selected to participate in the 2009 D-III Football Senior Classic, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Salem Stadium in Salem, Virginia.

This is the first year for the D-III football Senior Classic which is hosted by the Collegiate Developement Football League. The game will feature 90 top senior players from the nation to fill two teams.

Edwards was fifth in the conference in receptions per game with 37 and second in receiving yards per game with 71.8.

Edwards led the team in total receiving yards this season with 646. He also had seven touchdowns on the season. Edwards averaged 17.5 yards per reception.

The Colonels finished the season with an overall record of 7-2 and a 4-2 record in the SCAC. Centre ended the season tied for second in the conference.
