Men 13th NCAA Women 33rd

Golf Alums,

This fall our golf teams took some large steps towards national respectability. With a total of twenty golfers in the program both the men's and women's teams set out to challenge their fall schedules.

All fourteen players on the men's team played in all the fall tournaments. We looked like a small army as we arrived at the golf courses and sometimes the other teams didn't know what hit them. The Colonels won four of the eight tournaments and finished second in two others. Twice the Gold Team (B) beat the Black Team (A) causing some lineup changes. Freshman Chris Morris was medalist in three consecutive tournaments and Senior Derek Tingle and Junior Tyler Griffith each captured one title. Once again the Colonels hosted the Alumni in a Ryder Cup style Sunday. This year's version was very spirited with the Colonels emerging victorious for the first time. If your golf game is still strong please contact me to participate in next fall's event.

The women's side of the program was not to be out done finishing first in three tournaments and taking second in two others out of the six they entered. Sophomore Katie McKenna was medalist in three tournaments to lead the Colonels with an 83 stroke average while several others made All-Tournament teams .

First Jim English Invitiational

Both the Men and Women opened their season in the “Jim English Invitational” held at the Old Bridge Golf Club. Jim has recently stepped forward to support the program through generous gifts which in part is one reason for the recent success. With Jim 's help our teams have been able to get the needed exposure and experience to be competitive nationally. If any of you feel compelled to jump on Jim 's train , all gifts are greatly appreciated.

Spring Season starts in Florida

As we have done in the past three years the golf teams will head to Orlando for Winter Break spending five days at the Heathrow Country Club and Alaqua Golf Club. The week is topped off by a day at Isleworth Golf Club playing Tiger's course as guests of Jim English .

Have a safe Winter-
