Tingle medals as Centre places third
Junior Derek Tingle (Louisville, Ky.) shot a 72 to win the Old Bridge Fall Invitational and the Centre College golf team finished third out of six teams, at the Old Bridge Golf Course, Saturday, Oct. 7, in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels shot a team score of 306, their best score of the year, to place third, only two strokes behind both the University of the Cumberlands and Transylvania University, which tied for the low score with a 304. The Cumberlands won the team title with the best #5 score to break the tie.
Tingle shot par on the 6,526-yard par 72 course finishing one stroke ahead of two golfers who tied with 73's and 41 other competitors. Sophomores Tyler Griffith (Marengo, Ind.) and Alex Zimmerman (Corydon, Ind.) tied for eighth place with a 76 (+4).
Freshman Hunter Catron (Elizabethtown, Ky.) tied for 13th place with a 77 (+5). Freshman Chris Conkright (Owensboro, Ky.) tied for 25th place with an 80 (+8) and junior Rus Whalen (Georgetown, Ky.) tied for 28th place with an 81 (+9).
Centre will conclude its fall season, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, when it competes in the Transylvania Invitational at the U.K. Club. in Lexington, Ky.
