Men place third in fall invitational
The Centre College men’s golf team placed third out of five teams in the Centre College Men’s Golf Fall Invitational. The event was held on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Danville Country Club in Danville, Ky.
Centre, with a team score of 25 over par (313), beat Union College (320) and Hanover College (338) for the third spot. Transylvania University won the title with a team score of 17 over par (305) on the par 72, 6,627-yard course, followed by St. Catharine Community College with a score of 308 (+20).
The individual title was shared by David Hoffman of St. Catharine College, Matt Fritsch of Bellarmine University, and Samuel Lee of Union College (Ky.). All three earned a score of two over par (74) for the win.
Top finishers for the Colonels were freshmen Chris Conkright (Owensboro, Ky.) and Tyler Current (Louisville, Ky.). Both finished with a score of four over par (76) to tie with two other golfers for the sixth position. Tied for 15th with a score of six over (78), were junior co-captains Rus Whalen (Georgetown, Ky.) and Derek Tingle (Louisville, Ky.).
The next match for the Colonels will be held on September 22-23, 2006 at the Arlington Country Club. The contest will be a home match for Eastern Kentucky University. |
