Centre ties for third at Manchester Fall Invitational
Competing at the Manchester Fall Invitational, the Centre College men's golf team tied Transylvania University for third place overall out of nine teams with a team score of 611, Monday, Oct. 1 at the Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Ind.
Illinois Wesleyan University took home the team title with a 592 (297-295), followed by Centre's Gold team in second with a 606 (302-304). Transylvania shot a two day score of 305-306, while Centre finished with a 301-310.
Freshman Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.) finished as the Invitational's Medallist with a 141 (71-70) to lead the Colonels. Both senior Derek Tingle (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Jack Compton (Tampa, Fla.) placed in the top 10. Tingle tied for third place with a 147 (75-72), while Compton tied for seventh place with a 151 (79-72).
Also finishing in the top 20 overall were sophomore Tyler Current (Louisville, Ky.), junior Alex Zimmerman (Corydon, Ind.) and freshman Gray Hunter (Ashland, Ky.). Current tied for 16th with a 154 (74-80) and Zimmerman (76-79) and Hunter (79-76) tied for 18th with a 155 on the par 71, 6,444-yard course.
Centre will next host its second Invitational of the fall with the Centre College Invite Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Old Bridge Golf Course in Danville, Ky. The Colonels won the Jim English Invite at the same course earlier this fall. |
