Men's golf team wins Otterbein Fall Tournament
Leading by one stroke after the first day, the Centre College men's golf team pulled away on day two to win the Otterbein Fall Tournament by 24 strokes, Sunday and Monday, Oct. 14-15 in Westerville, Ohio.
The Colonels, which have now won four tournaments in seven tries this fall, won the even with a team score of 619 (306-313). Ohio Dominican University was second with a 633 (307-326), followed by DePauw University in third with a 651 (321-330).
Freshman Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.) continues to impress, winning his third event of the fall with a 149 (75-74) on the par 72, 6,622-yard course. Sophomore Tyler Current (Louisville, Ky.) finished only two strokes behind in third place with a 151 (75-76).
Junior Tyler Griffith (Marengo, Ind.) and freshman Gray Hunter (Ashland, Ky.) tied for fifth place with a 158's. Griffith shot 75-83, while Hunter ended with 74-84 in the two-day event. Sophomore Mike Janok (Louisville, Ky.) finished in the top 15, placing 14th overall with a 163 (83-80).
Centre will wrap up its fall season Saturday, Oct. 20 in a tournament against Spalding University and Bellarmine University. The event will take place at the Audubon Country Club in Louisville, Ky.
