Golf team ranked in first poll of the 2008 season
Centre College golf team starts the 2008 season ranked 13 in the first poll by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This is the highest preseason ranking in the programs history.
The team will begin the 2008 season with a tri-match on March 8 with Division II Bellarmine and provisional Division III Spalding followed by the Piedmont College Invitational and the National Division III Showcase at Jekyll Island. The Showcase will feature 28 of the top Division III schools in the country playing during their spring breaks at the prestigious Jekyll Island golf course.
The team is currently lead in scoring by freshman Chris Morris, followed by sophomore Tyler Current, junior Tyler Griffith, and senior co-captain Derek Tingle. Morris is shooting a 72, while Current and Griffith are averaging 74 and 75 respectively, while Tingle is sitting at 76.
The team is rounded out by senior co-captain Russ Whalen and sophomores Chris Conkright and Mike Janok. |
