Men's golf team places fourth at Wittenberg Invitational
The Centre College men's golf team competed at the Wittenberg University Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23 and placed fourth overall out of 15 schools at the Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield, Ohio.
The Colonels finished with a two-day team score of 590 (294-296) to finish six strokes back of Owens Community College for third place. Ohio Dominican finished with a team score of 573 (283-290) followed by Otterbein College in second with a 581 (296-285) and Owens in third with a 584 (293-291).
Sophomore Tyler Current (Louisville, Ky.) paced Centre placing fifth place overall with a 143 (71-72). Freshman Chris Morris (Tampa, Fla.) and junior Tyler Griffith (Marengo, Ind.) also finished in the top 10. Morris tied for sixth with a 144 (73-71), while Griffith tied for eighth place with a 146 (73-73).
Sophomore Chris Conkright (Owensboro, Ky.) and freshman Lyndon Jones (Taswell, Ky.) placed in the top 20. The two golfers tied for 13th place with a 148. Conkright shot 75-73 and Jones finished with a 77-71.
Otterbein's Heath Trabue was the tournament's medallist shooting a two-day score of 136 (70-66) on the par 71, 6,834-yard course.
Centre will continue its fall season Monday, Oct. 1 in the Manchester College Invite at the Honeywell Country Club.
