Men’s golf team ranked 10th in Golfstat rankings, women's team is 25th
In the first Golfstat rankings released Sept. 22nd, the Centre College Men’s Golf Team is ranked 10th in the country with a record of 218-9. The Centre College Women’s Golf Team is ranked 25th in the country with a combined record of 105-24.
The Centre men’s golf team is coming off a ninth place finish at the Rhodes Invitational, where nine of the top 10 teams of the Golfstat rankings in the country competed. The team is led by junior Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.), who is averaging 72.2 strokes per round. In the team’s three tournaments this year Morris has finished third, second, and a recent tie for third at the Rhodes Invitational.
The men’s golf team next competes on October 3rd, at the Centre Invitational at Old Bridge Golf Club in Danville, Ky.
The Centre College women’s golf team is currently competing without injured sophomore Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.), last year’s national freshman of the year and junior Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) who is interning in Washington, D.C. The team is currently relying on two seniors and four freshman to achieve the 25th place ranking.
The women’s golf team next competes Sat., Sept. 26 and 27 at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, Ind.
Golfstat administers the computer rating used by the NCAA Championship selection committees for the NCAA.
