Men's Golf News

The Centre College men's golf team took seventh place out of 16 teams on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invite. All of the teams that finished ahead of Centre were ranked in the top 10. The Invite was a two day event and was played at the Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch, Ga. Centre had an overall score of 599.

Junior captain Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.) was the top finisher for Centre with an overall score of 142, which was good enough for fifth place. Morris was named to the All-Tournament Team for his outstanding play.

Sophomore Randy Boll (Dayton, Ohio) tied for 30th with a two day score of 151. Freshman Patrick Davidson (Louisville, Ky.) was third for the Colonels with a score of 154. Davidson tied for 44th place at the Invite. Senior Chris Conkright (Owensboro, Ky.) and freshman Will Herndon (Wilton, CT.) both tied for 48th place and completed the two day event with a 155.

"This was the best Division III tournament we have played in with 10 of the top 15 teams in the country playing. The biggest accomplishment for the Colonels was beating defending champion Oglethorpe and beating DePauw, as well as finishing ahead of Southwestern," Centre Coordinator of Golf Brian Chafin said.

Methodist University won the Invite with a score of 573. Guilford College placed second finishing with a score of 580 and Emory University was not far behind with an overall score of 582, which was good enough for third place.

Josh Schrader from Methodist was the individual winner completing the two day event with a 573.
