Colonels place fourth in women's golf event
Coming off a win over Rhodes College in a dual match, the Centre College women's golf team continued to have success, this time placing second out of seven teams at the Centre College Fall Invitational at the Danville Country Club, Thursday, Sept. 21, in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 362 (+68) on the par 73, 5,805-yard course, only two shots behind the overall team winner, Division II member, Bellarmine University (360).
Freshman Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) was the top finisher for the Colonels shooting an 86 (42-44) to place third overall out of 38 competitors. Freshman Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) also placed in the top five finishing in a tie for fourth with an 87 (40-47). Both McKenna and Cianchetti were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts.
Junior Melanie Goff (Bowling Green, Ky.) placed third for Centre and 18th overall with a 93 (45-48). Sophomore Jennifer Jackson (Truckee, Calif.) tied for 20th with a 96 (48-48), and freshman Catilin Molner (Brandenburg, Ky.) was 31st with a 108 (52-56).
Bellarmine's Aubrey Alexander was the overall winner, shooting an 84 (39-45), followed by Union College's Dudley McKenna in second place with an 85 (42-43).
Centre will next participate in the Transylvania University Fall Classic, Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the University of Kentucky Club, in Lexington, Ky. |
