Jackson leads Colonels to win in women's golf
Sophomore Jenny Jackson (Truckee, Calif.) was the individual medallist and the Centre College women's golf team won the Old Bridge Fall Invitational, hosted by Centre, Saturday, Oct. 7, in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 352 (+64) on the 5,890-yard par 72 Old Bridge Golf Course. The University of the Cumberlands and Sewanee-University of the South tied for second place with a score of 432 (+144).
Jackson shot an 83 (+11) to lead five Centre golfers in the top five. Freshman Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) was second with an 88 (+16), followed by freshman Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) with a 90 (+18) and junior Melanie Goff (Bowling Green, Ky.) with a 91 (+19).
Freshman Sarah Fisher (Vine Grove, Ky.) rounded out the top five for the Colonels. Fisher tied for fifth with two other golfers with a 95 (+23).
Cianchetti, McKenna, Goff and Fisher were all named to the all-tournament team for the their performances. Centre will complete its fall season, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16-17, when it travel to Tunica, Miss. to compete in the Rhodes Invitational at the Tunica Resort. |
