Centre women take down SCAC opponents in golf match-up
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Women's golf team battled arch rivals Oglethorpe University and Rhodes College for the Championship while beating several other SCAC foes this past weekend.
The Colonels posted a two day score of 692 which placed them six strokes ahead of nationally ranked Oglethorpe University who finished second with 698. The hosts, Rhodes College, finished third with 723. Making the All-Tournament Team for Centre College was freshman Katie McKenna with a two day total of 159 and freshman Marissa Cianchetti who finished with a 167. Other Centre Golfers that scored were Melanie Goff (182), Lindsay Maurer (184), Cat Molnar (186) and Andrea Bishop (188).
The men also won their tournament held in Crestview Hills, Kentucky April 16-17 at the Summit Hills Country Club. This is the first time in Centre's Golf history that both the Men's and Women's Teams both won their respective tournaments on the same day (complete men's story). The Women's Team will next compete at the SCAC Championships April 28 and 29 in Georgetown, TX .
