Colonels place seventh at DePauw Small College Classic
The Centre College women's golf team placed seventh overall out of 13 participating teams at the DePauw University Small College Classic, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23 at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 679 (348-331) in the two day event. Otterbein College claimed the team title with a 639 (319-320). DePauw and Allegheny College rounded out the top three. DePauw shot a 649 (3310318) and Allegheny finished with a 651 (326-325).
Sophomore Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) was the top finisher for Centre placing seventh overall with a 158 (79-79). Senior Melanie Goff (Bowling Green, Ky.) tied for 23rd with a 169 (88-81).
Freshman Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) tied for 28th with a 173 (92-81) followed by sophomores Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) in 39th with a 179 (89-90) and Sarah Fisher (Vine Grove, Ky.) in a tie for 56th with a 189 (95-94).
Franklin College's Katie Tewell was the tournament's medallist finishing with a two-day score of 145 (72-73) on the par 72, 5,837-yard course.
Centre will continue its fall season Thursday, Sept. 27 in the Transylvania University Invite at the University of Kentucky Club. |
