Centre finishes second in women's golf invitational
The Centre College women's golf team added its fifth top three finish in six tries placing second overall at the Old Bridge Fall Invitational, hosted by Centre, Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Old Bridge Golf Course in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels ended the event with a team score of 351 to finish 39 strokes behind NCAA Division II member Bellarmine University (312) for first place. The University of the Cumberlands finished third (399) followed by Hanover College in fourth with a score of 401.
Sophomore Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) and freshman Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) paced Centre tying for seventh place overall McKenna (42-41) and Burton (43-40) finished one stroke away from making the all-tournament team with an 83.
Sophomore Sarah Fisher (Vine Grove, Ky.) was 12th with a 91 (44-47), while junior Lindsey Mauer (Florence, Ky.) and sophomore Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) also placed in the top 20. Mauer shot a 94 (44-50) to finish 14th and Cianchetti finished with a 98 (46-52) to place 16th.
Bellarmine had the top four finishers led by Sarah Duplessis. Duplessis shot a 75 (37-38) to finish as the Invitational's Medallist. |
