McKenna leads Centre to third win of the fall
For the third time already this fall the Centre College women's golf team claimed an invitational team title, this time placing first out of six teams at the Transylvania Fall Invitational Thursday, Sept. 27 at the University of Kentucky Club in Lexington, Ky.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 343 in the one-day event, 30 strokes ahead of Wittenberg University (373), which finished second. The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rounded out the top three with a 377.
Sophomore Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) also earned her third win of the fall season shooting an 80 to finish two strokes ahead of teammate, senior Melanie Goff (Bowling Green, Ky.), who finished with an 82.
Sophomore Sarah Fisher was third for the Colonels and tied for sixth overall with a 90, while freshman Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) also placed in the top 10 coming in at ninth with a 91.
Junior Lindsay Maurer (Florence, Ky.) placed 13th overall with a 95 and sophomore Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) was 21st with a 106.
Centre will next compete in the Franklin College Invite, Saturday, Sept. 6. The Invite will be played at the Legends of Indiana Course in Franklin, Ind. |
