Women's golf team wins Old Bridge Invitational
Four players finished in the top 10 as the Centre College women's golf team placed first out of four teams at the Old Bridge Invitational hosted by Centre, Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Old Bridge Golf Course in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels finish with a team score of 334 (+46) to win the event by nine strokes. Transylvania placed second with a 343 (+55), followed by Hanover College in third with a 353 (+65) and St. Catharine College in fourth with a 418 (+130).
The Colonels were led by freshman Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.) who finished second overall with a 77 (42-35). Joining Bachert in the top ten were juniors Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) and Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) and sophomore Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.)
McKenna placed fourth overall with a score of 81 (42-39). Cianchetti was sixth with an 85 (42-43) and Burton tied for ninth with a 91 (47-44).
Hanover's Paige Schroeder was the event's medallist after shooting a 74 (39-35) on the 5,890-yard par 72 course.
Earning all-tournament honors for the Colonels were Bachert, McKenna and Cianchetti.
Centre will next compete in the Wittenberg Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12 at the Windy Knoll Country Club in Springfield, Ohio. |
