Women's golf team ranked 18th in the Golf World/NGCA poll, men 33rd
The Centre women's golf team is ranked 18th in the first Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association Poll and the men's team is ranked 33rd.
Centre's women's team is coming off a ninth place finish at the DePauw Small College Classic, where four of the top 20 teams of the Golf World/NGCA poll competed.
The Colenels women’s golf team is currently competing without injured sophomore Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.), last year’s national freshman of the year and junior Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) who is interning in Washington, D.C. Seniors Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) and Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) as well as the freshman have stepped up to lead Centre.
Centre's men’s golf team is coming off a ninth place finish at the Rhodes Invitational, where six of the top 25 teams of the Golf World/NGCA poll competed.
The men's team is led by junior Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.), who is averaging 72.2 strokes per round. In the team’s three tournaments this year Morris has finished third, second, and a recent tie for third at the Rhodes Invitational.
Centre's men's and women's golf teams next compete on October 3rd, at the Centre Invitational at Old Bridge Golf Club in Danville, Ky.
