Women's golf takes third place at Rhodes Fall Classic
The Centre women's golf team took third place out of eight teams at the Rhodes Fall Classic in Tunica, Miss. on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The Classic was played at the Tunica National Golf Course.
Senior captain Katie McKenna (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) led the Colonels as she medaled at the Classic for tying for first place. McKenna finished the two day event with a 157.
Senior Marissa Cianchetti (St. Charles, Ill.) tied for 13th with an overall score of 171. Freshman Whitney Miller (Lexington, Ky.) was third for the Colonels with a score of 177, which was good enough for a tie for 21st. Freshman Lauren Mashburn (Madisonville, Ky.) was not far behind Miller, as she would come in 23rd with a 182. Rounding out the top five for the Colonels was freshman Bridget Winstead (Franklin, Tenn.) who completed the two rounds with a 184 and a tie for 25th place.
Katie Dale from Oglethorpe medaled with the first place tie.
Birmingham-Southern was the overall winner of the Rhodes Fall Classic posting a score of 655 and East Central University came in second place with a 668.
"The coaching staff is proud that the team finished as one of the top Division III teams in the country. Katie McKenna was the co-medalist, which was a great feat in the final match of the fall season," Coordinator of Golf Brian Chafin said.
