Centre Gold & White Booster Club

The Gold and White Booster Club is the tie that binds Centre Athletics to the Danville community. Every other Monday, coaches and athletes meet with students and townspeople over lunch. Together, they watch films of last week’s games and discuss Centre athletics. It’s a great way for students and locals to meet Centre athletes and show support for the team.

The Gold and White Club dates back to 1980. Head Coach Joe McDaniel, the winningest coach in Centre's history, wanted to get the Danville community more involved in football. With the help of Sam and Mark Dexter, both Centre alums, McDaniel got other local merchants and professionals interested in the Centre football program. They held luncheon meetings at the local Holiday Inn. While community members enjoyed the refreshments, the coaches showed films of the previous Saturday's game. Attendance increased steadily, and the meetings continued through the winter.

To accommodate its increasing membership, the Gold and White Club began meeting at Cowan Dining Commons on the Centre campus. In the early nineties, the coaches opened the club to include all Centre sports. At present, coaches and players from each in-season sport give brief highlights from the previous week's games. All meetings are open to the public, so stop by and show your support for the Colonels.
