80 named to 2007 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll Eighty Centre College student-athletes from the winter and spring sports programs have been recognized for their efforts in the classroom by being selected to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll for the 2007 spring term. The 80 Centre student-athletes on the honor roll represent a tie for the second highest total in school history, falling only three short of the 2005 spring term of 82 and matching the 2006 spring term of 80. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference. Because the winter sports end during the spring term, both men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming and diving teams are included in the spring honor roll. Three Centre teams put at least 12 student-athletes on the honor roll led by the women's swimming and diving team with 13. Both the men's and women's track and field teams placed 12 members each on the honor roll. Softball had the next highest number with nine followed by men's basketball and men's swimming and diving with seven, baseball with five, women's tennis with four, women's basketball, women's golf and men's tennis with three and men's golf with two. Of the 80 to make the honor roll, over half, 44, qualified for at least the second time. Six of those have been named to the honor roll at least three times, while Eric Moore (baseball), Sara DeSanctis (women's tennis), Ines Kevric (women's track) and Eileen Schilling (women's track) earned Academic All-SCAC status all four years. Schilling was also a four-time honor roll selection in cross country. Since the Honor Roll's inception in 1997, over 11,200 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom. The 80 Centre student-athletes this spring bring Centre's overall total to 1,078 to make the Honor Roll in its 11 years of existence. Below is a list by sport of each student-athlete named to the 2007 honor roll. |
