Centre puts school record 95 on SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll

SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2008 spring term and a record 947 student-athletes made the list. Since its inception in 1997, almost 13,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.

To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.

The previous SCAC record for the spring was 793 set in 2006 and the previous high for Centre was 82 set in the spring of 2005. Out of the 12 conference schools, only Trinity University (127), DePauw University (120) and Rhodes College (115) finished with more student-athletes on the honor roll than Centre.

The women's swimming and diving team and the men's track and field team led the way with 16 student-athletes each making the honor roll. The women's track and field team had 12 members followed by men's golf (9), men's swimming and diving (8), women's tennis (7), softball (6), baseball and women's golf (5 each), men's and women's basketball (4 each) and men's tennis (3)
