Record number on 2009 Fall SCAC Academic Honor Roll The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor roll for the 2009 fall term and 781 student-athletes made the list, which was a new record. Since its inception in the fall of 1997, just over 15,500 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom. In order to qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and the student-athlete must be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in sports that is sponsored by the conference. The previous SCAC record for the fall was 778, which was set last year. Centre also set a new record with 74 student-athletes on the honor roll. The previous record for Centre was set in the fall of 2008 with 65. Football led the way with 15 student-athletes making the honor roll. Women's soccer followed football with 14. Field hockey and men's cross country each had 11, followed by volleyball with nine. Men's soccer had eight student-athletes make the honor roll, while women's cross country had seven.
