Centre College's Community Appreciation Night

Centre College will be hosting a Community Appreciation Night on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The celebration will kick off the first Centre men's and women's basketball game of the season.

Community Appreciation Night will begin at 5 p.m. in Sutcliffe Hall and free popcorn and soft drink tickets will be given to the first 200 fans.

The Centre women's game begins at 6 p.m. and the Centre men's team will play at 8 p.m. Both teams will be taking on Maryville College. Admission to both games is free.

The Centre men's team is ranked #21 in the D3hoops.com preseason poll and was picked to win the SCAC in the preseason conference poll. Centre ended last season with a 23-5 overall record and a 12-2 record in the SCAC. The Colonels are returning a Division III News Freshman All-American and a D3hoops.com preseason All-American.

The Centre women's basketball team was chosen to finish second in the SCAC according to the preseason conference poll. Centre finished last season with a record of 18-9 and a 10-4 record in the SCAC. Head coach, Wendie Austin-Robinson, is returning for her sixth season and was named the 2009 SCAC Coach-of-the-Year. The women's team is also returning a 2009 All-SCAC Second Team member, the 2009 SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year, and a 2009 All-SCAC Honorable Mention player.
