Coach's Corner
"Friend's of Centre Soccer "
This is a title used frequently around our program. This weekend, we saw first hand what makes up the Friend’s of Centre Soccer.
Friday night at half time of our match with Millsaps’s College, we honored our 10th Anniversary team that earned Centre College’s first NCAA Tournament Bid. I was happy to see so many players from our 1997 team come back. Thank you. It means a great deal and allows our current squad to see the history of our program.
If you didn't notice, Mark Hudson was in attendance. Austin College had an open weekend and Mark made a last minute choice to catch a flight up to Kentucky. Although we joked the real reason was to scout us for the Austin vs. Centre game.
Mark addressed the team before Friday’s match. He discussed how our current team may not directly know our alumni, but that there is a bond that exists amongst all Centre Soccer players.
On Sunday, a significant number of parents held a cook out after the game with Birmingham Southern.
For our players to learn about our history or to spend time with family after a game is important.
Our Friends of Centre Soccer group plays an active role with our program on many levels. Without our Friends of Centre Soccer, our program could not function or offer the type of experience that is Centre Soccer.
Below you will find pictures of the 10tn Anniversary Team and the cookout.
