Centre men snap three-match losing skid
After starting the season 10-1, the Centre College men's soccer team dropped its third straight match, falling 2-1 to DePauw University in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match, Saturday, Oct. 28, in Danville, Ky.
Centre, which falls to 1-5-2 against the Tigers during the SCAC era, is winless in its last four matches (0-3-1) and falls to 10-4-1 overall and 4-3 in the SCAC. DePauw improves to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in league play.
DePauw's Jeremy Rielley put the Tigers on the scoreboard first, finding the back of the net in the first half to give DePauw a 1-0 lead. Later in the half, Kaes Kamman extended the Tigers lead giving DePauw a 2-0 lead at the break.
The score remained that way until junior Nick Judah (Louisville, Ky.) was given credit for an own goal by DePauw after a Judah shot deflected off a Tigers' player into the goal.
Centre out shot DePauw 12-8, while the Tigers held a slim 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Chris Creger (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) took the loss in goal for the Colonels. Creger made three saves in the defeat.
Centre will return to action, Friday, Nov. 3, when they host Austin College. The SCAC match will start at 5:30 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
