Three men's soccer players named to All-Region team
Centre College senior men's soccer players Matt Corbett (Louisville, Ky.) and Ed Ohin (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Adam Boyer (Louisville, Ky.) have been selected to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division III All-South Central Region Third Team for their efforts during the 2007 season.
Corbett, a third team All-SCAC selection this year, scored six goals and had seven assists for 19 total points through 19 matches. The senior outside midfielder notched three game-winning goals this season and his 11 points in conference play proved how valuable of a player he was to the Colonels this year.
Ohin was also a third team All-SCAC pick this year after notching one goal for two total points as a defender for the Colonels in 2007. Although his numbers do not stick out, Ohin was a very strong and skillful defensive midfielder who tackled hard and made the game look easy offensively this season.
Boyer was named to the All-SCAC first team for the first time this year after playing all 19 matches for the Colonels in 2007. The junior scored two goals - both game-winners - and had four assists for eight points. He consistently created opportunities on the offensive end with penetrating balls out the back throughout the season. Boyer was also a Third Team All-South Central Region selection in 2006.
The SCAC placed 11 total players on the team with Trinity University having five players named to the team, Southwestern University three and Oglethorpe University one. This is also the second straight season the Colonels have place three players on the all-region team.
Centre finished its season with a 14-4 overall record and 6-3 mark in the SCAC. The Colonels have now posted a winning season in each of the 17 years the SCAC has been in existence. Its 14 wins are the most by a Centre team since the 2000 season, when the Colonels won 15. |
