Men's Soccer News

Centre College senior men's soccer player Brandon Gish (Owensboro, Ky.) and junior women's soccer player Kate Anderson (Louisville, Ky.) have been chosen to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Soccer teams for their efforts both in the classroom and on the soccer field.

The two individuals were selected to the District 4 College Division Second Teams by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2007 fall season.

Gish, a 2006 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll member, has posted a 3.4 grade-point average as a chemistry major at Centre. The senior forward has started 15 of the teams 18 matches this season in helping the Colonels to a 13-4-1 overall record and 6-3 mark in league play.

Gish, the MVP of the Bob Allen Nissan Classic one year ago, has scored four goals and added an assist for nine total points this season. He plans to pursue medical school following graduation in May.

Anderson has made the Dean's List at Centre every semester while compiling a 3.96 grade-point average. She is a double-major in International Studies and German, with a minor in government.

The junior defender was also a member of the 2006 SCAC Academic Honor Roll and was a Second Team All-SCAC selection last year. Anderson has started all 17 matches for the Colonels this season tallying one assist in helping Centre to a 11-5-1 overall record and 5-2-1 mark in the SCAC.

Gish was one of only four SCAC players to make the team, while Anderson was also one of only four conference players to earn the recognition.

Both the men's and women's soccer teams will travel to Greencastle, Ind. Saturday, Nov. 3 for its regular season finales against DePauw University. The women's match will start at 5 p.m. followed by the men's match at 7 p.m.
