Austin and Centre join forces with Susan G. Komen Foundation
Austin College men’s soccer head coach Mark Hudson has a friendly wager with the men’s soccer head coach Jeb Burch at Centre College. The two friends have turned to their teams to see who can raise the most money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists working to end breast cancer forever. Komen for the Cure is 125 Affiliates strong, located in cities and communities across the United States, Germany, Italy and Puerto Rico.
Hudson, who served as the assistant to Burch from 2001–06, was named head coach at conference rival Austin in the spring of 2007. The Kangaroos travel to Danville, Ky. for a conference match Saturday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 pm.
Both teams are currently trying to raise money for the Komen Foundation. The winning team will be announced prior to the 6:30 p.m. kick–off. A combined check of total money raised will be presented to the Louisville chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
“We came up with this idea last January” Burch said. “Both Mark and I, along with the Centre team and community, have seen first hand the impact breast cancer can have on life. It was natural for us to want to raise money for the Komen Foundation,” Burch continued.
Interested donors can contact Jeb Burch at jeb.burch@centre.edu to contribute on behalf of the Centre men’s team. Mark Hudson can be contacted at mhudson@austincollege.edu to contribute on behalf of Austin College.
Donations will be accepted until Friday, October 26. |
