#1 Trinity downs #10 Centre 2-0 in men's soccer

In a match up of two top 10 teams, the #10 Centre College men's soccer team fell 2-0 to #1 Trinity University in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) match, Sunday, Oct. 21 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Colonels, which have now lost two straight matches for the first time this season, fall to 12-3-1 overall and 5-2 in the SCAC, while Trinity remains unbeaten at 15-0 overall and 7-0 in league play.

With the match scoreless, the Tigers' Cameron Hogsett, off an assist from Kyle Altman, scored the contest's first goal at the 31:21 mark to put Trinity ahead 1-0.

Just over five minutes later, the Tigers added to their lead as Tyrone Petrakis scored off a corner kicks off assists from Joseph DeCosta and Matt Beham for the final 2-0 tally.

Trinity controlled much of the match out-shooting the Colonels 27-5 on the day, including a 17-1 advantage in the first half. The Tigers also held a slight lead in corner kicks at 3-2. Senior Chris Creger (Charleston, S.C.) suffered the loss in goal for Centre. Creger made five saves.

"Today we lost to a very good Trinity team," Centre head coach Jeb Burch said. "I thought we let them dictate play in the 1st half and they were more physical than us. I was happy to see us not give up any goals in the second half but overall, based on how we played today, Trinity deserved the result."

Centre will return home Friday, Oct. 26 to host Colorado College in an SCAC contest. The match is set to start at 7:30 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
