Centre men shut out Maryville, 1-0
The Centre College men's soccer team won its second straight game on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, by shutting out visiting Maryville, 1-0, in Danville, Ky. The Colonels improve to 14-4 on the year.
In what was a sluggish night for the Colonels, they still managed to pull out the win and continue to build momentum going into the upcoming weekend's games against SCAC rivals Trinity and Southwestern.
The lone goal scored on the evening was by senior Adam Boyer on a penalty kick in the first half.
Earning the win in goal tonight for the Colonels was junior Aaron Arndt (Madisonville, Ky.). It was the second straight shut-out and sixth total for the Colonels on the season.
After the game Head Coach Jeb Burch said, "Tonight's effort was poor, we created next to nothing in the game and got out worked by Maryville. I need to see more players take responsibility for themselves technically and with their work rate."
Coach Burch went on the say, "I never saw this coming, I just expected a totally different type of effort tonight."
The Colonels return to action this upcoming Friday, Nov. 7, against SCAC rival Trinity. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
