Centre men start season 2-0

The Centre Men's soccer team needed an overtime goal to defeat Trine University 1-0, on day two of the Glenn Hyundai College Showcase hosted by Transylvania Universtiy Saturday Aug. 30 in Lexington Kentucky. The win makes the Colonels 2-0 on the year.

The Colonels, coming off of their victory against Muskingum College yesterday, played suggishly today against Trine Universtity. While, managing six shots on goal in the first half and seven in the second the Colonels were held scoreless going into the overtime fram. With the offense struggling the defense did its part during the entire game limiting Trinie to only six shots on goal total.

In the overtime period junior midfielder Andy Burke (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored an unassisted goal, the only goal of the game, leading the Colonels to victory. While not a pretty game, the Colonels with take the win and look to improve their overall play in the games to come.

Centre will return to action Friday, Sept. 5 to host Letourneau University in the opening day of the 19th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic. The match will serve as the night game of the Classic and will begin at 7:30 pm.
