Boyer appointed to men's soccer assistant coach position
Adam Boyer (Louisville, Ky.) has been appointed to the men’s soccer assistant coaching position. Boyer, who graduated from Centre in 2009, was Centre soccer’s first NSCAA Academic All-American and All-American in the same year.
Boyer took over the responsibilities on an interim basis for the start of preseason on August 18 while a search was conducted.
“Adam has one of the highest soccer IQ’s I have coached," Centre head coach Jeb Burch said.
"He is naturally a very organized person and his interaction with the team during preseason made it obvious he was the person for the job."
In addition to being the technical trainer for the team, Boyer will take the lead in recruiting, including campus visits by prospects, along with maintaining the team’s web site and game day operations.
“I am happy to continue my involvement with the program and to work with Coach (Burch)," Boyer said.
"I concluded after a lot of thought that I definitely wanted to stay involved with the college game. The timing of this opportunity worked perfectly for me and I am happy for the opportunity to continue my involvement with the soccer program and the College.”
Boyer replaces David Horne who recently was appointed to the Head Coaching position with the professional Louisville Lightning of the PASL-Pro.
Centre will open its 2009 season Tuesday, Sept. 1 against Spalding University. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
