Centre men's soccer team ties Hendrix College 1-1

Centre outplayed Hendrix College on Sunday, Oct. 11 in Conway, Ark., but ended up tying the Warriors 1-1. Although the Colonels dominated play and had plenty of opportunities to score, Centre was unable to find the back of the net one extra time to get the win.

Hendrix scored in the first half when Dylan Reed put the ball in the back of the net. Connor Silvestri and Duncan Keegan assisted Reed on the goal that was scored 28:16 into the first half.

Centre kept up the pressure and five minutes into the second half senior James Kusak (Louisville, Ky.) tied the game at one a piece. Senior Chris Allen (Louisville, Ky.) had the assist on Kusak's goal.

The game remained very physical and both defenses had their work cut out for them as the game would go into double overtime, where neither team was able to score ending the game in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of play.

Centre out shot the Warriors 17 to six in the match. The Colonels had seven corner kicks, while Hendrix had six. Adam Legg had six saves for Hendrix and senior Aaron Arndt (Madisonville, Ky.) had two for Centre.

"Our ball movement was excellent today. Statistically it is clear where this game was but again, a missed mark on a set piece costs us a win," head coach Jeb Burch said.

Centre will travel to San Antonio, Tx. on Friday, Oct. 16 to take on Trinity University in the Colonels next game. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
