Centre men's soccer suffers 1-0 loss to #10 Trinity University
Centre played well in the first half and didn't give up a goal to the Tigers, as senior goalkeeper Aaron Arndt (Madisonville, Ky.) had two saves. The Colonel defense had their work cut out for them as Trinity had seven shots in the first half and took six corner kicks.
Although the Centre defense played well, the Tigers were able to score in the second half with 80:40 on the clock when Tommy Barros was able to find the back of the net to put Trinity up 1-0. Trinity would be able to hold off Centre for the remainder of the game to take the 1-0 win.
Centre had one shot and one corner kick in the game. Trinity ended the game with 18 shots and 10 corner kicks.
"We have to acknowledge that Trinity was better than us tonight. We got out worked, out hustled, they won all second balls, and were much more composed than us," Centre head coach Jeb Burch said.
"We are still in position to be second in this conference though and I expect us to learn from this game and push on to the end," Burch finished.
The Colonels will take on Southwestern University next on Sunday, Oct. 18 in Georgetown, Tex. at 12:30 p.m. |
