Coach's Corner "Youth Soccer Month" The month of September is Youth Soccer Month. The local CKSC U-13 boy's team won the Kentucky State Open Cup this past spring. Most, if not all, of these boy's attend our summer camps here at Centre College and work the side lines of our home matches as ball boy's. Last Saturday, the CKSC boy's played at half time of our Wittenberg match under the lights. Our ball boy's are an integral aspect of what makes us an elite program. Often times we take something like ball boy's, stencils on the game field, game day programs, or even t-shirts for granted. None of this is required for us to play soccer games, but they enhance our program. As our boy's can attest, we want to give them the best of everything. We want to be a water mark in Division III soccer. To continue with Youth Soccer Month, we had the CKSC boy's join our team for a 6 aside tournament this past Monday, September 24th. Our players are familiar with the CKSC boy's through camp. I told the CKSC team, which obviously was excited about playing with our team, my boy's were also looking forward to the day. I have posted below a few pictures. Once complete, Adam Boyer (Louisville, Ky.) spoke to the CKSC boy's about winning state championships on the club level and his experiences in winning Region II Championships with Javanon (Louisville, Ky.) and eventually what winning the USYSA National Championship meant to him and his friends. It was a very positive day for Centre Soccer. Moreover, it allows our program to give back to the community. Soccer in the surrounding counties has found a niche and I feel Centre Soccer continues to do their part in helping the sport develop. |
